The studio

Two friends making games.

Mofghoul Studios is a two-person independent game studio in Pennsylvania. Our first game is Fins of Fate.

Why we started.

We love dungeon crawlers. Archero and Brawl Stars are two of our favorite games, and we wanted to put our own twist on them.

That became Fins of Fate, a co-op roguelike where you play as a fish. You pick new powers on every run, team up with friends, and fight through twenty underwater worlds with a boss at the end of each one.

We test a lot. Bots play through every level so we can tune the difficulty, then we play it ourselves and change whatever isn't fun.

The two of us.

Nathan

CEO and co-founder

Runs the business side of the studio and writes code for the game.

Ethan

Co-founder

Handles marketing, outreach and player support, and writes code for the game.

How we work.

Fair beats easy.

Hard is fine. Cheap isn't. Every attack in our games tells you it's coming.

Always playable.

We keep a playable build at all times. Most of what makes a game fun only shows up when you play it.

Respect the player.

No dark patterns, no selling your data, and nothing you can only win by paying for it.

So far.

  1. A fish in a dungeon

We pick an engine, sketch a goldfish that spits pearls, and decide co-op has to work from day one.

  2. Fins of Fate gets its name

Twenty worlds, six fish and a fish tank that grows as you play.

  3. Playtests

Small groups, real feedback, lots of rebalancing. Ask to join.

  4. Launch on iPhone and iPad

    Other platforms after that.

Want to work with us?

We're not hiring yet. If you make art, music or sound for games and you like what you see, say hi anyway.
